Kriya Materials has developed a line of IR absorption coating products for the window film industry. These coatings give window films solar heat blocking functionality up to 50%. The coatings provide the films with excellent optical transparency and good scratch resistance.
The product range is based on doped metaloxide nanoparticles that filter the near infrared part of the solar radiation (IR absorption) and thus lowering the SHGC (see below). Applied on a laminate, these coatings effectively reduce the solar heating of rooms or cars, and thus lowering the CO2 footprint as your airco unit will be used less in the end, which saves fuel or electricity. Those who are knowledgeable in the window film market know that reflection and high transparency are an aesthetic and often legal feature unmet by metal sputtered films, this is exactly where Kriya Materials products give the best total performance.
The SHGC is the fraction of incident solar radiation admitted through a window, both directly transmitted and absorbed and subsequently released inward. SHGC is expressed as a number between 0 and 1. The lower a window's solar heat gain coefficient, the less solar heat it transmits.
The coating products are solvent based UV curable coatings comprising our proprietary ATO nanoparticle dispersion.
